The Sangguniang Kabataan in Barangay Fugu, Ballesteros, Cagayan has launched a project which makes outdoor celebrations and community meetings much more efficient.
The local young leaders has called their initiative as “Collapsible Tent Lending Project” – meaning, they have purchased collapsible tents and these are available for use by community residents.
“The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Fugu is committed to supporting our residents’ activities. We are proud to launch our Collapsible Tent Lending Project,” they said via social media.

They added, the tents are also helpful during calamities or similar unwanted situations. These tents, they said, can be borrowed through coordinating with their SK officials led by Hon. Charice M. Farinas for proper scheduling and guidelines.
Collapsible tents refers to heavy duty tents that are made to be transportable. These are made of galvanized steel and is designed to be easily assembled by two or more people.
In an FB share by Farinas, the initiative has received commendation. “The best ka talagaaa,” one said. Another commented, “Wow congrats. SK Fugu headed by Chairman Charice Montenegro Farinas.”
In addition, they have also purchased a new digital scoreboard for basketball games in the barangay.
“This is a major step forward in our commitment to community-based sports development,” the said.

According to SK Fugu, a better equipment means better experience for local athletes, and a more professional feel for every match held in the barangay.
Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has said that there are 5.3-million newly registered voters for the Barangay for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Comelec also shared that they are planning to release the list of deactivated voters and those having multiple registrations soon. The Barangay and SK poll is scheduled November 2 this year.
