The local government unit of Echague and Santiago City, both in Isabela province, have teamed up in conducting forums, workshops and learning sessions to promote culture, May 28-30, 2026.
The towns have created meaningful collaboration and knowledge-sharing from various resource speakers, with goal of boosting the confidence of young ones in reminiscing the rich cultural identity that we have, which has been passed for many generations.
Resource speaker includes Dr. Harold Dela Cruz (Historical Consultant), Asst. Prof. John Christopher B. Mesana, LPT, MACHS (NU Research Faculty & NCCA Research Consultant), and Mr. Mark Joy C. De Jesus (Artistic Director & Choreographer, BULSU Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Troupe).
The Heritage Forum 2026 was themed “Rooted to Rise: Isabela Indigenous Youth Cultural and Artistic Leadership Workshop.”
Training session for first day was held at Mayor’s Office Function Hall in Echague, while second and third day was held at Balay na Santiago in Santiago City.
“Sa pamamagitan ng makabuluhang talakayan at pagbabahagi ng kaalaman mula sa mga kinikilalang resource speakers, layunin ng forum na mahubog ang kabataan bilang tagapagtaguyod ng ating kulturang pamana para sa susunod na henerasyon,” Muncipality of Echague has said via FB post.
Moreover, the participants have performed through “Sala Ti Isabela” which features colorful presentations from Yogad, Itawis, Gaddang and Ibanag groups.
National Heritage Month, celebrated every May, seeks to honor and preserve the country’s rich cultural history.
It was established by Presidential Proclamation No. 439, and features exhibits, special tours, and community workshops.
