The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Department of Information and Communications and Technology (DICT) in Region 2 ensures preparedness for emergency situations that may arise as Typhoon Kiyapo heads toward extreme Northern Luzon.
For DICT, the country’s lead agency for emergency telecommunications cluster, they said they have a measure in place to ensure that critical communication assets are prepared for emergency situations.
This is called the Government Emergency Communications System – Mobile Operations Vehicle for Emergency (GECS-MOVE) Set; which is designed for rapid, reliable connectivity in times of crisis.
GECS-MOVE will help responders, local government units, and communities to coordinate effectively when disasters strike.
Moreover, the GECS-MOVE Set was earlier inspected by Secretary Henry Aguda together with Assistant Secretary Christian Mark Guingcanco, with DICT Region 2 Regional Director Pinky T. Jimenez.
Jimenez said that the initiative seeks to safeguard and strengthen disaster preparedness across Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, BFP Region 2 is on heightened alert to ensure the availability and operational preparedness of all firefighting equipment, rescue tools, and emergency resources.
BFP Quirino Provincial Fire Marshal FSUPT Conrad Ian V. Casayuran said the agency continously monitor situations across the province.
“Situational reports are being consolidated from the six municipal fire stations to provide timely and accurate updates, enabling the Bureau to coordinate response efforts effectively and safeguard the lives and property of the Quirino people,” BFP Quirino said.
The BFP has likewise encourages residents to stay vigilant, monitor official weather advisories, and observe necessary precautionary measures throughout the storm.
