Over 6,700 nationals from the Middle East have arrived in the country, as of April 17, as the government continues to find ways to help overseas workers who are affected by the ongoing war.
Data from the DMW shows that Dubai accounts for 2,048 returnees, Kuwait has 1,153, and Abu Dhabi has 1,023. DMW refers to Department of Migrant Workers.
Other repatriates based on data: 700 from Qatar, 689 from Bahrain, 684 from Riyadh, 133 from Al Khobar, 90 from Israel, 77 from Lebanon, 74 from Jeddah, and 35 from Oman.
Of the total, 5,023 are overseas Filipino Workers, 1,343 are dependents and the remaining 340 are tourists and other Filipinos abroad.
Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said that the government is expecting more Filipinos overseas to be repatriated in the country.
“We have around three arrivals today from Bahrain, Dubai and Qatar and tomorrow we will have arrivals from Qatar, Lebanon, Israel and Abu Dhabi.”
Meanwhile, the DMW is also providing $200 or roughly P11,990 to workers whose working hours or employment have been disrupted.
Usec. Jainal Rasul Jr. said the application process has been streamlines under guidelines issued March 30 that was subsequently amended.
A post-repatriation orientation program under the Kalinga framework has likewise began.
Asec. Francis De Guzman said the program extends medical and psychosocial support beyond airport. Also included are follow-up monitoring, connects returning workers with skills training, scholarships, and job-matching. #
