The City Government of Tarlac is pushing yet another series of sports-recreation activities in order to help residents enjoy personal achievement, health and social interaction; highlight is through sports pickleball.
Tarlac City has launched on Tuesday, July 8, its Tarlac City Grassroots Pickle Program as it aims to introduce the sports to residents and learn one of the country’s fastest growing sports movement.
Pickleball refers to a fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It uses a solid paddle and a perforated plastic ball played on a badminton-sized court.
The implementation includes 14 barangays and 8 schools, all of which were provided with complete pickleball equipment set – which includes one net with stand, four pickleball paddles and two packs of balls.
The LGU has said that aside from the equipment that was provided, the program also aims to help residents develop discipline, sportsmanship and strong body.
“Sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng sapat na kagamitan at oportunidad, patuloy na isinusulong ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Tarlac ang mga programang nagbibigay-daan sa paghubog ng talento at pagpapalawan ng partisipasyon sa sports para sa lahat.”
Philippine pickleball is quickly gaining strong following with lots of emerging courts, clubs and local tournaments in the country.
The Philippine Pickleball Federation (PPF) has said that the country has 492 affiliated pickleball clubs, more than 46,400 registered players, and 427 playing venues nationwide.
“The Philippines is one of the most exciting pickleball markets in Asia, and we’re seeing tremendous enthusiasm from players across the country,” Conner Nguyen pf RacketPro. RaketPro is a global organization engaged in tournaments, infrastructure, and player participation.
Nguyen has emphasized that they are now investing in helping produce Filipino coaches of the sport with world-class education, internationally recognized certification, and a clear pathway for continuous professional development.
