Streaming giant Netflix will begin streaming a wide selection of programming from Japanese broadcaster NHK beginning June 22, 2026.
Some of the shows slated to appear in the streaming platform includes Taiga drama Strategist KANBE, the morning serial Mampuku, and Drama 10’s Descending Stories: A Life in Rakugo, The Science Club and Tokyo Salad Bow. Also includes is the premium drama My Family.
In addition, a total of 20 NHK drama titles are scheduled to stream on Netflix over the course of the year.

Netflix has said that NHK dramas is a core part of Japanese entertainment culture while Taiga dramas shows historical figures and pivotal moments in Japanese history, morning serials and stories of family work and people chasing their dreams.
Meanwhile, Drama 10 series explores contemporary issues, different ways of living and complex human relationships.
“The addition of NHK titles marks a significant expansion of that commitment. By bringing works nurtured by Japan’s broadcasters over many years to viewers in more than 190 countries and regions, Netflix will continue to champion Japan’s outstanding entertainment culture on the world stage,” the company said.

Netflix is also planning to enter the Japanese unscripted format, such as buying Nippon TV’s Monday Late Show which is hosted by Shingo Murakami and Matsuko Deluxe.
The company has partnered with major Japanese broadcasters such as TBS.
Netflix, likewise, has a history of producing Japanese shows in its own library such as Alice in Borderland and Last Samurai Standing.
