Have you seen police officers in a designated location and stop traffic for inspection and control?
Police officers do this, according to post by Police Officer Johndel Marquez on Facebook, to ensure that residents in a community are safe from criminality, and thereby maintaining peace and order.
“Ang maayos at mapayapang pamumuhay sa komunidad ay hindi kailangang maging komplikado – isa sa pinakamadaling paraan ay ang pagsunod sa mga legal na utos at paggalang sa batas,” he said.
He underscored that there are at least three terms they commonly use in conducting inspection. These are checkpoint, chokepoint and oplan sita.
Checkpoint, he said, is commonly done to monitor vehicles and people passing on a certain area. Chokepoint refers to a stricter and more targeted inspected, which is usually done on man-made bottleneck that restricts flow such as bridges, tunnels, and makikitid na daan.
Oplan Site, meanwhile, is an operation to warn or check vehicles for a possible violation such as carrying illegal firearms and others.
“Ang mga patakaran ay ginawa upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan, kaayusan, at maprotektahan ang karapatan ng bawat isa.”
“Kapag ang lahat ay nakikipagtulungan at ginagampanan ang kanilang tungkulin, nagiging mas ligtas, organisado at maayos ang pamayanan para sa lahat,” he said.
He said that during inspection, officers may call for an individual’s vehicle to stop for inspection.
Marquez advises that during inspection, an individual should remain calm and respectful.
“Huwag gumawa ng anumang kilos na maaaring magdulot ng pagkabahala sa mga pulis. May karapatan kang malaman ang dahilan ng inspeksyon. Maaari mong tanungin nang magalang kung bakit ka pinahinto o sinisita,” he reminds.
