How Shopee uses artificial intelligence to provide more efficient biz for MSME sellers

Have you tried purchasing on online stores such as Shopee but have some inquiries? Chances are, you will be conversing with an AI chatbot. But, the answers are pretty accurate.

The online e-commerce platform Shopee is one among the many internet companies that have chosen to adopt artificial intelligence.

The use of Chat AI Assistant has reportedly provided positive results, particularly to the business owners, sellers, and their customers.

This lessens the need for repetitive work of answering customer queries and hence the seller can focus on the product, that is while the customer gets instant accurate result.

New Earth is a sustainability-focused brand known for their eco-friendly washable products. The business is a team of six people, and staying responsive to customer messages is a challenge.

New Earth founder Valerie Pineda has said responding to every message manually meant that they have to pause with their ongoing task to respond to the customer. The time adds up.

“We take turns answering customer inquiries. Whenever our admin assistant is busy and cannot reply, I step in and help respond to customers.”

But with the addition of AI in Shopee, including the FAQ assistant and automated replies, they manage queries more efficiently, and responds manually only when the chatbot could no longer provide the answer.

These features have led to New Earth having faster response times, reduced manual effort, and more time for strategic work. “It helps us immensely because we don’t have to go through every single message anymore.”

Aside from customer response, Shopee has also introduced Product AI Optimiser to help sellers create polished product images and keep accurate product information.

This can also help guide buyers to the most suitable size based on the seller’s size chart, helping reduce measurement-related questions before purchase.
