The Kapamilya Network is launching a new record label which seeks to reintroduce Original Pilipino Music (OPM) to the new generation, this is through the launching of CAT Records.
CAT Records seeks to maintain the story and melody of the songs that formed part of the Filipino culture and provide better opportunity for artists, producers, and musicians.
The music label will serve as platform to provide new version to the songs highlighting the interpretation of the present generation.
Included in the songs which will have a new rendition is the classic “Ipagpatawad Mo” from Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon. This will be performed by CIFRA,
Meanwhile, singer-songwriter and producer Gab Tagadtad will provide a modern take for the song “Panaginip Lang.” Taladtad is one of the producers of CAT Records.
Other singers who shall form part of CAT Records are Gino Nazal, Jeri Violago, JM Yosures, SAGA, Christian Martinez, BRYN, Sarvi, YellowPad, Kiko Salazar, Raizo Chabeldin, and Sunny Ilacad.
The record label will also release a jazz instrumental version of classic songs from the 70’s icon VST & Co. This will done through music arranger Sunny Ilacad and saxophonist Jun Figueroa – highlighting the song “Awitin Mo, Isasayaw Ko,” and other classics.
JM Yosures will make a new version of the song “Ang Hirap Maging Mahirap,” while SAGA will provide an enhanced interpretation of the song “Diamante”.
Moreover, Gino Nazal will provide an instrumental project, while Jeri Violago is set to become the first singer-songwriter of the label.
CAT Records is part of the exciting rosters of Kapamilya labels, which also include Star Music, StarPop, Inspire Music, DNA Music, Tarsier Records, and ABS-CBN Music International.
The labels is under ABS-CBN Music, rooting from Star Records.
