Vice President Sara Duterte has said that she will never resign from her position as Vice President, that is amidst rumors that she is going to leave her post as the impeachment proceedings become unbearable.
“Oh, never gonna happen. Hindi ako magreresign dahil ‘yun ay parang betrayal sa 32.2-million na mga kababayan natin na bumoto sa akin,” she said as per an interview via Padayon & Updates, which was quoted by GMA News.
Duterte has said that if President Bongbong Marcos Jr. would want to get rid of her, he could remove her. “Kung gusto ni BBM tanggalin niya ako, gawin niya ang lahat, tanggalin niya ako.”
The Vice President, likewise, continous to receive high satisfaction rating as per result from recent Social Weather Stations survey having 58-percent; and 56-percent in the June 2026 Pulse Asia survey.
But, according to members of the House prosecution panel, the impeachment process will procced even if the Vice President will resign.
“We believe the trial should continue because the issue here is not only removal from office. What is also at stake is the perpetual disqualification from public office. So, we will leave it, of course, to the Senate impeachment Court, in that event, to decide whether the trial should continue or not,” House prosecution panel member Terry Ridon said.
Ridon has likewise asked the public to stop riding on the propaganda that the proceedings won’t push through just because the VP has high satisfaction and approval ratings.
Duterte is currently facing an impeachment trial over alleged misuse of confidential and intelligence funds, unexplained wealth, and betrayal of public trust – all of which was denied and she called them as politically motivated.
