The dance duo SuMy, comprising of Sugar Mercado and Hori7on’s Jeromy, was declared champion at the second season of GMA Network’s dance reality competition Stars on the Floor.
The duo have secured a total of 20.21% in the leaderboard, comprising of scores from judges and online votes from episodes 10-16.
SuMy was able to enter the final showdown of the competition after a series of dance performance competition with other celebrity performers, winning the hearts both of the judges and the audience.
In the competition, a pairs of dancers will battle in a predetermined dance challenges with their performance guided by a professional dance choreographer. Top two teams of the week will battle out in a dance showdown to earn points and reach the top spot of the weekly leaderboard, to secure a spot in the grand finals competition.
In the finals, Sugar and Jeromy have delivered a show-stopping acrobatic-like routine involving a balance rocker stage.
Sugar, according to a PEP story, has shared gratitude to God for providing them strength and talent to survive the competition.
“Una po, Lord Jesus Christ, maraming salamat. Ikaw na ito, wala nang iba. Sa mga anak ko, sa pamilya ni Jeromy, sa inyong lahat mula sa mga judge, sa host, sa staff, sa mga naglilinis, sa lahat ng nag-aayos ng mga buto namin, sa mga cameraman, sa mga boss, salamat po sa trabaho. Hallelujah,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jeromy have expressed gratitude to his family and fans who have shown extraordinary support for their dance partnership with Sugar.
“First of all, gusto kong magpasalamat sa daddy ko na nanonood ngayon. Daddy, nandito na ako. Tingnan mo, nanalo. Sana proud na proud ka sa akin. Also sa family members kong nandito, thank you so much,” he said.
Jeromy added, “And of course, HORI7ON and our Anchors, I love you so much.”
Both Jeromy and Sugar have likewise thanked individuals behind the show: Alden Richards, Marian, Rayver, Jay and production staff.
The winners have received the title Ultimate Dance Star Duo, and brought home P1-million cash prize and a trophy.
