Speculations have made rounds on social media on whether the son of multimedia icon Kris Aquino will enter local politics, that is after Bimby was seen with Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap at the last day of the voter registration.
James Carlos “Bimby” Yap has made himself as an official registered voter, and hence can vote aside from having the privilege of becoming an electoral candidate.
He was seen with the Tarlac City local chief executive along other individuals at the COMELEC office in the city, May 18.

This has led to speculations, though unconfirmed, that he is slated to run for a position in the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in Brgy. Central, Tarlac City.
Bimby has not yet issued a statement, but Bimby is part of the Aquino clan. His uncle Benigno Noynoy Aquino III and grandmother Corazon Cory Aquino both sat on the country’s top position, while his grandfather Benigno Ninoy Aquino Jr. was a former Senator.
“Pwede, well educated siya, swerte ng barangay Central kapag naging SK Chairman siya, maraming kabataan ang matutulungan nito at mga proyekto niya sa Central in the future,” one comment said.
Another shared, “Magtapos muna sana siya ng degree. Mas okay ‘yun muna pagka-abalahan niya. Enjoy his youth while having his academic journey para tumatag ang pagkatao niya.”

Bimby is among the thousands of Filipinos who rushed to COMELEC offices and partner establishments on the final day of the nationwide voter registration.
The government agency, COMELEC, is accepting both first time registrants aged 15-17 for the youth sector, and 18 years old and above for regular voters.
As of May 16, they have logged about 5.2 million voter registration applications, which they described as the highest recorded in any registration cycle in its history.
The voter registration is part of the preparation for the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections 2026 on November 2.
