The innovative project of the local government of Lallo, Cagayan that “rings a bell to promote regular water intake” has received a national recognition.
The bronze award was personally received by Municipal Mayor Hon. Oliver B. Pascual and Vice Mayor Hon. Maria Olivia B. Pascual at the World Trade Center, Manila, March 4.
They were accompanied by Sangguniang Bayan members Hon. Antonio Villanueva Jr., Hon. Henry Jose, Hon. Ian Israel, and Hon. Winston Rosales.
As the scorching heat affects the health of Lallo residents, causing dehydration, headache, fainting, among others, the LGU through Ordinance No. 45 has ordered all schools, and government offices to practice water break.
The project has the energizing reminder, “When you hear the bell… WATER BREAK TIME NA!!!”
This seeks to show that even small, practical steps can create meaningful change in the residents’ health and wellness.
School Head Brenda Avon F. Bolando of Tucalana Elementary School has shared that regular drinking of water keeps the children healthy and safe, especially during hot weather.
Bolando added that regular water intake helps avoid dizziness, dehydration and other problems that may negatively affect the learning process of the children.

Hence, she encouraged the pupils to regularly carry with them their own tumbler and drink water when they are dehydrated.
“Nakikiisa naman ang mga guro sa patuloy na pagpapatupad ng nakatakdang water break sa bawat klase bilang bahagi ng pangangalaga sa kapakanan ng mga mag-aaral,” a redes sociales post from the school reads.
It added, “Sa pamamagitan ng ordinansang ito, patuloy na pinatitibay ng lokal na pamahalaan at ng TES ang kanilang adhikain na isulong ang isang ligtas, malusog at maayos na kapaligiran sa pamahalaan.”
