Niel Brian Briones took home the championship title in the fourth season of the singing competition Tanghalan ng Kampeon, a segment of the GMA variety show TiktoClock.
The Bulacan-based singer, who is also a Philippine Navy soldier, has brought home the title after besting the other four finalists with his all-out performance of the Bruno Mars song “Risk It All” on Friday.
In a message after being announced the winner, Niel felt emotional as he shared the victory with his father. “Ito na ‘yung pinapangarap mo para sa akin at mas pagbubutihin ko pa sa kung ano ang ginagawa ko. Hangga’t nabubuhay ako, aalagaan kita hanggang sa pagtanda.”

The grand champion has received a trophy, cash prize of P500,000, and a hotel accommodation in Batangas.
In a story published via a newsletter, Florentino Joya Elementary School has commended their former student, saying his talent is singing is already evident when he was studying at his alma mater.
The school has described Niel as kind and industrious, who also excels in campus journalism through sports writing.

“Nagtapos si Niel noong 2007 at tuluyan nang nilisan ang Tanza upang manirahan sa bayan ng kanyang ama sa Bulacan, kung saan siya nakapagtapos ng high school at kolehiyo.”
The school has also shared that Niel has served as guest speaker during their Commencement Exercises last year, where he did not only inspire the graduates but shared his talent in singing.
Niel is currently serving in the Philippine Navy while pursuing his talent in singing.
