The Sangguniang Kabataan in the municipality of Claveria in Cagayan province have spearheaded a campus journalism training to sharpen the talents and skills of young journalists.
Around 170 aspiring campus journalists have attended Project LINANG: Summer Journalism Cliniquing Program, an activity held in partnership with campus paper advisers and journalism mentors.
This includes veteran coaches and former champions who shared technical skills, competition strategies and practical insights.
During the training, participants underwent comprehensive workshops and and critiquing sessions in various categories.

Categories include news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, sports writing, copyreading and headline writing, photojournalism, and column writing.
They have also trained students in mobile journalism, radio broadcasting, collaborative desktop publishing and online publishing.
The Municipality of Claveria has long been recognized for producing outstanding campus journalists who have made mark in competitions – division, regional, and national.
Hence, this seeks to further elevate the town’s reputation as a champion-producing municipality in the field of campus journalism.
“Through Project LINANG, education leaders hope to sustain this legacy and further strengthen the municipality’s standing as one of the strong contenders in regional and national journalism competitions,” the SK Federation said via FB.

They added, the activity reflects a commitment to academic excellence and youth development.
Journalism remains a vital platform, they said, for empowering students to become informed, responsible, and transformative communicators in society.
