Google has recently rolled out a major update on its QuickShare, a file-sharing feature, which allows many Android devices to send files to Apple products such as iPhone, iPad, and Macs.
GizGuide has disclosed that Android phone owners has to simply find a file, tap Share, select Quick Share, and the name of the Apple device receiver will be immediately seen – no internet is required.
Meanwhile, Android phones that are on waiting list or those without full hardware compatibility can send through a QR option.
Reports disclosed that the feature will be available to popular applications like WhatsApp soon.
Currently supported devices are Google Pixel 10 series, Google Pixel 9 Series, Google Pixel 8a, Samsung Galaxy S26 Series, Oppo Find X9 series, Find N6, and vivo X300 Ultra.
Meanwhile, these devices are expected to get the update soon: Samsung Galaxy S25 series (S24 series, Z Flip7, Z Fold7, Z Flip6, Z Fold6, and Z TriFold), OPPO Find X8 Series, OnePlus 15, HONOR Magic V6, and Honor Magic8 Pro.
“We wanted to make QuickShare compatible with AirDrop on as many phones as possible,” Google’s Diether Bohn told Android Authority. But, he said, it must be supported by the phone’s current hardware.
“So if you want to share a file with somebody who doesn’t have AirDrop compatibility with QuickShare, they can open up WhatsApp, and it will go directly (to them).
“It won’t have to go up to the internet and back down again. We wanted to make local file sharing work for as many people as possible, because that seems like an obvious thing that should just work in 2026.”
