Businessmen, professionals call justice for DepEd official who was shot dead by riding in tandem

A group composed of businessmen and professionals have called for justice and condemned the killing of a DepEd district supervisor who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Alicia town, Zamboanga Zibugay, Thursday.

Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) has called the killing of Rey Dalaota Camaingking as senseless and brutal, and said that such action is a gross violation of human rights and goes against all moral principles.

“We call for an end to violence, the reign of terror and bloodshed. We call for proper action against those responsible for this barbaric atrocity,” the group said in a statement.

They added, “His death is a great loss to both the Department of Education and the Brotherhood and the larger community, and his killing raises more serious questions on the ability of government agencies to prevent crimes.”

According to Zamboanga Sibugay police provincial report, Camaingking was walking near Guicam Port in Sitio Guicam, Barangay Dawa-Dawa, ALicia, Zamboanga Zibugay at around 7:20 pm when two gunmen approached and shot him in the head using a .45 caliber pistol.

The DepEd official is reportedly walking towards his motorcycle parked at the port, and he is apparently on his way home from work.

The suspects, on the other hand, are onboard a black Honda XRM motorcycle heading towards Barangay Kawayan, Alicia.

Police is conducting a manhunt operation and has alerted nearby units.

As investigation is ongoing, authorities have yet to establish the motive behind the killing and no suspects have been identified.

The killing of the DepEd official adds to a growing list of cases that test police response and public confidence in safety and accountability.

This, as reports show that the use of riding-in-tandem gunmen assailants on motorcycles have long been associated with targeted killings in various parts of the country, where cases often remains unsolved. #
