Philippine TV celebrity Xyriel Manabat has gone viral on social media after a TNVS driver who took photos with her has uploaded it on social media.
But what irked Xyriel and made the post a talk-of-the-town was the lewd conversations on the post’s comment section.
Xyriel, in a TV5 interview with MJ Marfori, has said she won’t let the incident slide because disrespecting women or any individual should not be a form of entertainment.
“This is the first time na nakita ko ‘yan. Pero now that I’m seeing it, hindi ko ‘yan palalagpasin. Of course, hindi dapat nagiging entertainment in any form.”
“And at the same time, I hope the platform or the app should do something about this because it’s not pretty, it’s not something na any woman or anyone, not just women, should experience on a daily basis.”
The actress narrated that the incident happened while she is going to work when she rode through the TNVS, and the driver asked to take a photo with her.
“Maayos ko siyang kinausap. As far as I could remember, ang bait-bait ko sa kanya. Nag-tip pa nga ata ako kasi nahiya ako ‘pag may pinaghihintay akong tao.”
Xyriel said she is never scared to express her passion in protecting women and she’s going to use her voice. “Naka-fuel lang siya ng reason for us to be more brave and for ust to be, to spread more awareness about this kind of topic.”
Meanwhile, Grab Philippines has issued a statement that they are going to take action over the incident.
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention. At Grab, we practice zero tolerance for inappropriate contact and other misconduct.”
“Rest assured, we have invited the driver involved as part of our full investigation and are committed to taking the necessary actions.”
