Google rolls out ‘Gemini in Chrome’ in Asia and the Pacific

Users in Asia and the Pacific are now able to use Chrome’s built-in artificial intelligence chatbot feature called Gemini in Chrome. Tech giant has made the feature available in the area on Monday, April 20.

Gemini in Chrome puts the company’s artificial intelligence right into the browser, and clicking on it opens a sider where you can have interactions with the AI without switching tabs or applications.

The Personal Intelligence feature on Gemini allows you to connect services such as Gmail and Google Photos for personalized answers. This allows you to send create message and send it via GMail, or schedule a meeting which would go directly to your Google Calendar.

It allows you to ask questions, summarize long webpage articles, compare information, summarize YouTube videos, and more.

Moreover, the new Nano Banana 2 feature helps you transform images on the web using a text prompt in the Gemini in Chrome side panel.

Google has likewise said that it has features to identify security threats and provide private, safe AI-assisted online browsing.

“All this is built with security in mind from the start and is designed to keep you in control. Our models are trained to recognize known threats, like prompt injection, and include safeguards to ask for confirmation before completing sensitive actions,” the company said.

Gemini in Chrome can be accessed users through the Chrome’s desktop browser, or app on an iPhone or iPad.

It is available in APAC counties: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam. Though the Japan may have to wait for the Gemini in Chrome on iOS devices.

The feature was made available earlier this year in Canada, India, and New Zealand.
